A writer, a poet, a religionist, and an economist, the profile of Aremu Adams Adebisi is broad, liberal and varied. Once considered one of the finest contemporary poets of his time by EGC, Aremu's writings are thick with context and backstory. His words probe the fluctuations of humanity, the fog of existentialism and the annihilation of freedom.
Being a graduate of Economics, he does not lack in both literary and behavioural grittiness. In 2015, he was both a runner-up to the Talented's maiden poetry competition and the Eriata Oribhabor Food Poetry Prize. In 2017, his poem 'Moremi Ajasoro' kick-started Africanpoems' Modern Poetry in Oral Form, and his other poem 'How Do I Begin this Poetry' made the 20-man longlist of the Nigerian Students Poetry Prize. He edited the Purple Magazine, thus established as the first chief editor of the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ilorin.
His book 'Transcendence' was a recipient of the Green Authors Prize in the year 2018. Same year, he started the ARTmosterrific movement in the University of Ilorin, which has since grown into a non-profit, non-founded community of campus writers, readers, and literary enthusiasts. All these in addition to bagging multiple runner-up positions in the Brigitte Poirson Poetry Prize.
In 2019, his work 'Demystification of the Hereafter' was nominated by Thimblelit Magazine to be adapted into play for the Fringe Play Festival in the Philippines. Same year his other work 'Force Mechanism' was adapted into Lucent Dreaming's first theatrical performance 'Steve! The Musical' in Cardiff, Wales. The same poem was shared by the Welsh Government to mark World Poetry Day in Wales.
In August, his work 'Mother of Blood and Bone' was nominated for Sundress' Best of the Net by Barren Magazine, and towards the month of December, he completed the double when his work 'Force Mechanism' was made a Pushcart Prize nominee by Lucent Dreaming. And in 2020, Aremu, the eclectic, is serving as a content specialist and editor for ARTmosterrific, coupled with being a Reader and Panelist for the American Newfound Magazine's Anzaldua Poetry Prize.
Aremu is a fellow of 'Sharpened Vision: A Poetry Workshop' organized by the California Institute of the Arts, led by Douglas Kearney. He is published in many anthologies and poetry journals likewise. He has mentored in both literary and capacity building projects for the Society for Social Justice, ARTmosterrific, and Kolawole Adebayo's Origin of Words. He will be mentoring for the Rotaract Club, University of Ilorin, and SprinNG Writing Fellowships.
