Hammed J. Sulaiman, born in the 90s, is a Nigerian writer, budding poet, (student) journalist, social activist and a final year law student at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS). Apart from law, he is passionate about media and writing. His works have appeared on reputable literary, local and international platforms - these include but not limited to Praxis Magazine, Herald Newspaper, The Nation Newspaper, Opinion Nigeria, Qiraat African and many other news platforms and local blogs.
His poem titled the "THE FEAT" was selected amongst top 30 best poems of the Brigitte Poirson Poetry Contest (BPPC) February 2019 published by WRR Publishers Ltd. He performed his poem titled "MAY MY ROAD BE ROUGH" at the first-ever open-mic poetry performance organized by pioneer poetry community in UDUS. In December 2019, he emerged 2nd Runner Up in a writing competition organized by National Association of Kwara State Students.
He is currently serving as Principal Editor for UDUS PEN PRESS; PR and Communication Officer at Upskill Writing; Content Creator/Media Manager at Know Covid-19 Nigeria; Writer at Qiraat Africa. He is an active volunteer with local and international organizations.
Hammed's mind is wide and deep as ocean - sometimes he writes to provoke and he is not usually ashamed of it. One of the strengths of his writing is the depth of his awareness and in his essays, he writes about sensitive issues and handles it as he should — sensitively. Recently, he got admitted into the highly prestigious and competitive African Liberty Writing Fellowship (20/21 Cohort) alongside other amazing various writers across African countries. He was lucky to be a mentee at reputable SprinNG Writing Mentorship Class (2020 Cohort). He had promise to keep making effective change with his writings in societies and keep breaking ground years to come.
