Iyanu Adebiyi has three years of experience as a performance poet, and earned a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Abuja in Nigeria. She has a certificate of call to the Nigerian Bar and a Business Startup Diploma.
She is an advocate for social and personal healing and development, with a focus on women and youth. She reaches out to them on her social media platforms, with an online following of an estimated 15, 000 people from around the world. Iyanu served as a mentor for young poets at the 2019 SprinNG Fellowship and has facilitated workshops online, with over 200 people reached.
She was awarded by the U.S. consulate in Nigeria for her spoken word video, ‘I Am Something’ which gained over 10,000 views. Her work has been featured in and is forthcoming on several literary journals including, Odd Magazine, Snapdragon: A journal of Art and Healing, Kalahari, Untitled 263 and many more.
She is a Kidney Care Ambassador for St. Remmy Foundation and has been engaged artistically by several Governmental and Non-profit organizations including BBC Media Action Nigeria, National Agency for the Control of HIV/Aids, Ken-Saro Wiwa Foundation, The Arts and Civics Table (TACT), Centre for Real Impact & Youth Development, Korean Cultural Centre (Embassy of the Republic of Korea, Abuja) and many others.
