Lucy Chiamaka Okwuma is a Nigerian from Anambra State, based in Lagos, Nigeria. She is a doctor who specializes in eye care and has a passion for writing. Her debut novel, Neglected, was self-published in 2019. It is a novel centered on positive awareness of mental health disorders. Neglected was longlisted for the 2021 NLNG prize for literature.

Lucy is constantly working on telling more impactful stories. She loves to write about life,
its imperfections, and how we have our silent struggles but an outward appearance of perfection. She credits her journey into writing despite the glaring difference from her professional career to reading many novels, which started in her teenage years, a love affair she shares with her mother. She started putting pen to paper in her secondary school days, writing her creative imagination at the back of her school books.

Her day job remains as an eye doctor at a private hospital in Lagos, where she meets and interacts with different classes of patients, drawing inspiration to put more story ideas down.
