Mujahid Ameen Lilo is a Nigerian creative writer, language practitioner and culture critic. He majors in English Language at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where he is the Assistant Editor of the university's Creative Writers Club. He is a 2023 fellow of the Ebedi International Writers Residency Program. He participated in the Wole Soyinka International Cultural Exchange Program and emerged winner of the Wole Soyinka Essay Competition in 2019. He is the Second Runner-Up of the Quramo Writers' Prize 2023 and First Runner-Up of the Nigeria Prize for Teen Authors 2020. A two time winner of the BUK Creative Writers' Poetry Contest, he is also shortlisted for the Aminiya Trust Hausa Short Story Competition 2021 and was head judge of Book O'Clock Anniversary Essay Competition 2023. Lilo is the recipient of the 2021 HIASFEST Star Prize for the most progressive teen author in Nigeria awarded by the Hilltop Creative Arts Foundation.
His works have appeared in The Lagos Review, The Nigeria Review, Ebedi Review, Kalahari Review, Daily Trust, African Writer, Konya Shamsrumi and others. He was a guest at the Katsina Books and Arts Festival 2021, Lagos Book and Arts Festival 2020 and Sokoto Book and Arts Festival 2022. |
